One of the key features of Outpatient App is the ability for medical providers to refer patients to specialists on-call by submitting a simple form with relevant patient information, consult details including notes and high resolution photos, and urgency status. Selecting the clinical location to send a consult to automatically notifies the primary on-call specialist they have a consult to review. The specialist can quickly accept the consult, ask questions of the referring provider or re-route to a more appropriate department. Once a consult is complete, the consult is closed and all providers are notified. This seamless automation works on any device and streamlines the consult process to minutes instead of days.

Providers can easily message each other regarding patient cases, request and share information, and coordinate patient care more effectively. The VHM System is designed to address a substantial gap in the Military Health System (MHS), the Provider to Provider communication and coordination process: Provider Consults (P2P), Urgent Referrals, and related messaging needs. In addition, one of the biggest benefits is tracking these steps along the way and documenting them, such that all personnel are updated accordingly (Providers, Staff, Patient). Another significant component of this system is Provider On-Call Coordination (POCC). The system powers detailed shift scheduling across all providers and then automatically tracks the on-call providers for immediate virtual pager notifications and consult messaging.
