Cybersecurity & Accessibility – FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, AWS Gov, ADA / Section 508
Happy New Year! With the start of 2025, The Outpatient App team is thrilled to announce several major updates that enhance the security, compliance, and accessibility of our platform. These improvements ensure we continue to provide a secure, seamless, and inclusive experience for all military personnel, patients and healthcare professionals. Below, we highlight our migration to AWS Gov, FedRAMP readiness, NIST 800-53 compliance, and ADA / Section 508 accessibility enhancements.
In working towards these milestones, the team implemented several updates to our system and core architecture. These steps also involved collaborating with several partners including Amazon (AWS Gov Team), Drata, and DuploCloud. You probably know of AWS Gov Cloud for secure software platforms. Drata is an approved operational security and compliance automation platform; and DuploCloud similarly a secure DevOps infrastructure monitoring system.
Achieving FedRAMP Readiness
We’re proud to announce that the Outpatient App is now FedRAMP ready. This status signifies that our platform meets rigorous federal security requirements, providing users with confidence that their data is protected according to government standards. FedRAMP readiness simplifies the authorization process for government agencies using the Outpatient App, enabling faster adoption and ensuring compliance with stringent security protocols.
NIST 800-53 Compliance
The Outpatient App is also NIST 800-53 ready, aligning with the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s security and privacy controls for federal information systems. This readiness ensures that our platform adheres to a comprehensive framework designed to protect sensitive data, mitigate risks, and maintain operational continuity. In addition to our NIST-800-171 and HIPAA compliance, NIST 800-53 compliance reinforces our commitment to safeguarding user information and supporting mission-critical operations.
Migrating to AWS GovCloud
Our move to AWS GovCloud marks a significant milestone in advancing the Outpatient App’s security and performance. AWS GovCloud is a secure cloud platform designed to meet strict compliance requirements for sensitive government data. This migration ensures enhanced data protection, scalable infrastructure, and seamless integration with government standards. With AWS Gov, we’re equipped to deliver even faster, more reliable service while maintaining the highest levels of data security and integrity.
Accessibility Enhancements (ADA, WCAG, Section 508 Standards)
In addition to our security upgrades, we’ve made significant accessibility improvements to ensure the Outpatient App is inclusive and user-friendly. Updates include optimized color contrast ratios, larger font-sizes, and enhanced keyboard navigation to improve usability for all users, including those with visual or motor impairments. By adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 Standards, we’re making the app more accessible, ensuring every user can navigate and interact with the platform effortlessly.
These updates represent our ongoing commitment to innovation, security, and inclusivity. We’re dedicated to providing the best possible experience for all users while also adhering to strict cybersecurity controls. We look forward to continuing to support military personnel and healthcare professionals with cutting-edge innovative technology. Stay tuned for more exciting developments!
Cheers to 2025!
As we celebrate the start of 2025, these updates underscore our dedication to staying at the forefront of technology, security, and accessibility. At Outpatient App, we believe in empowering those who serve by providing a platform that not only meets but exceeds the highest standards in cybersecurity and usability. These advancements reflect our commitment to innovation and our vision for a more connected, efficient, and inclusive healthcare system. We’re excited for the journey ahead and remain steadfast in our mission to support military personnel and healthcare professionals. Cheers to a transformative and impactful year ahead!
