Over the past five years, Outpatient App has built an approved, fully secure, end-to-end medical compliance and workflow automation platform designed to eliminate inefficiencies across complex health systems.
Today, the Outpatient Platform consists of seven integrated product modules, all connected through a unified reporting and analytics dashboard. Together, they address one central mission:
Compliance, readiness, and workflow automation — simplified through AI.
Each module was co-developed in partnership with a Federal Health System customer, rigorously vetted and validated inside real operational environments before going live. This work was executed through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, with the U.S. Air Force leading development efforts and participation from the Army and Navy.
Four major installations played a critical role in development and validation:
- Travis Air Force Base (CA)
- Holloman Air Force Base (NM)
- Joint Base San Antonio (TX)
- MacDill Air Force Base (FL)
This work was supported through AFWERX and the SBIR program, ensuring solutions were built to meet real-world operational requirements — not theoretical ones.
Proven Impact at Scale
Across multiple deployed locations, the Outpatient Platform has demonstrated significant reductions in manual labor and administrative burden for both patients and medical staff.
On average, clinics using Outpatient have saved approximately 10,000 hours per location per year, with continued expansion of use cases driving even greater efficiency gains over time.
First-of-Its-Kind SBIR Phase III* Award
Outpatient App is now the first and only digital health software company to receive an SBIR Phase III* contract award, initially awarded at MacDill Air Force Base.
For Federal customers — including the U.S. Military, Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Health & Human Services — this designation unlocks a powerful procurement advantage known as Sole-Source Eligibility.
What Phase III* Means:
- Solutions may be purchased without a competitive bid
- SBIR requirements for competition are already satisfied
- Eligibility has no dollar cap
- Eligibility does not expire
- Unlimited contracts may be awarded
In short: Phase III* dramatically accelerates adoption while reducing procurement friction.
Strategic Advantage for Partners and Primes
For Outpatient App, Phase III* status is also transformative.
We have achieved perpetual sole-source eligibility, which can be leveraged across multiple customers, agencies, and environments. Outpatient operates as a Prime Contractor, and may also subcontract to other Prime vendors where appropriate — creating flexible partnership pathways across the federal ecosystem.
The Outpatient Platform

The platform currently includes:
1) Readiness Scheduling System (RISS)
Automated, intelligent patient scheduling
3) Dental Readiness Tracking (DRC)
Dedicated dental compliance system built to address unique workflows and integration requirements
4) Medical Staff On-Call Management
Real-time on-call scheduling and coordination
5) Provider Consult & Referral Management
Secure provider-to-provider communication and consult workflows
6) Secure Provider & Patient Messaging
HIPAA-compliant patient communication
Introducing Agentic AI for Compliance Automation
The newest addition to the platform is an Agentic AI Assistant that programmatically communicates directly with patients to coordinate, schedule, and track compliance requirements.
This capability closes the final gap in medical readiness workflows, eliminating the last major source of manual administrative labor and allowing medical staff to focus on care — not coordination.
Growing Demand Across the Force
Today, dozens of military bases across the U.S. and globally have expressed interest and are actively requesting access to the Outpatient Platform.
Demand has grown rapidly at the installation level over the past year, with full awareness and support from Department of Defense and Air Force Medical leadership. A formal process is currently underway to support broader adoption.
Built for Government. Proven for Everywhere.
While developed in partnership with the largest health system in the world, the Outpatient Platform is broadly applicable across government and commercial healthcare environments.
Terminology may vary, but healthcare workflows do not.
Outpatient leveraged federal-grade requirements to build a set of modern, AI-driven workflow automation solutions that are now vetted, validated, and adaptable across nearly any health system setting.
This kind of dual-use success is a core objective of government innovation programs — and Outpatient App stands as a clear example of that vision working in practice.
